Beirut, Sep 11 (V7N)- The Israeli military has destroyed a large underground tunnel network and military infrastructure belonging to a Lebanese armed group in southern Lebanon, describing the facility as strategically significant.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said approximately 1,100 kilograms of explosives were used on Friday (September 11) to demolish the underground complex, which had been constructed beneath a mountain.
According to Israeli authorities, the explosion generated a powerful shockwave reportedly registering 4.1 on the magnitude scale. The blast was felt across parts of southern Lebanon and the wider border region.
Israel has also released drone and aerial footage showing the destruction of the facility following the operation.
According to Israeli intelligence assessments, the infrastructure was located along the strategically important Ali al-Taher mountain ridgeline in southern Lebanon, around 15 kilometers from the Israeli border.
The IDF claimed the underground network extended for more than two kilometers and served as a major regional command center. It allegedly contained stockpiles of rockets, long-range missiles, attack drones and large quantities of explosives.
The operation highlights the continuing military tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where underground infrastructure and weapons storage facilities remain a major concern for Israeli forces.
