Washington, Sep 15 (V7N)- US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim that Iran is desperate to reach an agreement with Washington, while stressing that the final decision on whether the United States will enter negotiations with Tehran rests with him.
In a social media post, Trump described Iran as a “failed state” and said the country is eager to reach a deal as quickly as possible.
Trump said the United States remains open to negotiations in principle, but emphasized that he alone will determine whether Washington ultimately engages in talks with Tehran.
He also addressed the need to maintain uninterrupted international oil shipments through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Trump warned that countries that fail to assist the United States in restoring normal oil flows through the strait must, and will be compelled to, compensate Washington for the costs associated with the disruption.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy shipments.
