Tehran, Sep 15 (V7N)- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Tuesday, discussing the regional situation and the need for greater coordination in response to what Iran described as Israeli aggression and efforts to escalate tensions.
Iranian state media Press TV reported the conversation, citing Al Jazeera.
According to the report, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed Tehran’s full backing for Lebanon’s “resistance.”
During the call, Berri thanked Iran for its support and briefed Araghchi on the latest situation in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese parliament speaker also stressed what he described as the “legal and moral responsibility” of the international community and Islamic countries to halt Israeli violations and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The telephone conversation comes amid continued regional tensions and heightened concerns over further escalation involving Israel and Lebanon.
