Tehran, Sep 21 (V7N)- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has left Tehran for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, with a brief stop in Qatar scheduled during his journey, Iranian state media reported.
Reuters reported the departure, citing Iranian state media. Araghchi is traveling as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high amid the ongoing regional conflict.
Iran's state news agency IRNA said Araghchi would make a brief stop in Doha to hold consultations on the latest developments in the region.
The reports did not initially provide details about specific meetings planned during his stop in Qatar. However, Qatar has played a role in diplomatic efforts related to the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi's trip comes as Tehran and Washington continue to exchange threats while diplomatic efforts remain uncertain. The Strait of Hormuz has also remained a major issue amid disruptions to regional energy and shipping routes.
The Iranian foreign minister's participation in the UN General Assembly provides Tehran with an international platform to present its position on the conflict and its broader diplomatic priorities.
