Tehran, Sep 22 (V7N)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said military force and coercion cannot force a nation to surrender, as he departed for New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking to reporters before his departure on Tuesday (September 22), Pezeshkian said he would use the UN platform to present Iran’s position and highlight what he described as grievances against the Iranian people.
He said Iran would also raise what it considers crimes committed against its people and concerns over the erosion of trust in international institutions.
Pezeshkian said Iran had entered negotiations and signed agreements on several occasions, but alleged that commitments and written agreements had subsequently been violated.
He argued that people cannot be forced into submission through the use of military power, citing developments in Gaza, Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Iran as examples of what he described as realities being witnessed by the international community.
The Iranian president further alleged that Iran's adversaries were attempting to pressure the country by restricting different avenues available to it.
He claimed that efforts to weaken Iran included restrictions on land and air routes, attempts to encourage internal divisions, the use of media and ethnic differences, and exploitation of the country's vulnerabilities.
Pezeshkian said such measures were being pursued after, in his assessment, military pressure had failed to achieve its objectives.
He is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday (September 23), where he is expected to present Tehran's position on the ongoing regional conflict and international issues.
Pezeshkian's visit comes amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States, with the UN General Assembly providing a platform for both sides to present their positions before the international community.
