New Delhi, Oct 12 (V7N)- India's opposition alliance, INDIA, is set to hold a major programme in the capital on Monday amid allegations of police action against protesters demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Leaders and activists from various walks of life are expected to gather in Delhi for the programme, which has been called in response to claims of widespread repression during demonstrations near Jantar Mantar.
Thousands of protesters reportedly took to the streets, defying police barricades and arrests. Police allegedly used batons to disperse demonstrators, and several people were detained.
Meanwhile, Abhijit Deep, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, and his associates Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released on Sunday, a day after their arrest. The three have announced that they will continue their movement.
YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has also reportedly been released.
