Riyadh, Oct 15 (V7N)- The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has imposed strict travel restrictions on American government employees following reported missile and drone attacks targeting airports in the kingdom.

In a security alert issued on Wednesday, October 14, the embassy said US government employees must obtain special permission before travelling to any airport in Saudi Arabia. It also advised US citizens in the country to exercise extreme caution when travelling to airports.

The alert warned of potential further attacks, possible airspace closures and flight cancellations, urging Americans to remain alert to changing security conditions.

The embassy also prohibited US government employees from travelling within 32 kilometres of Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen.

In addition, special authorisation is required for staff travel to several other areas of the kingdom, according to the alert.

The restrictions reflect heightened security concerns following the reported attacks and the potential impact on air travel and movement within Saudi Arabia.
