Brussels, Oct 19 (V7N)- The European Union has condemned attacks by Israeli settlers on foreign diplomats and journalists in the occupied West Bank, calling for an end to the violence and urging Israel to ensure accountability.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, October 18, the EU called on Israel to comply with international law and halt the expansion of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The statement also urged Israeli authorities to take effective measures to prevent further violence against Palestinians and journalists and ensure that those responsible for such attacks are held accountable.

The condemnation followed reports that European diplomats and a French mayor were attacked by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on Saturday.

The incidents have renewed concerns over the safety of foreign officials, media workers and Palestinian residents in the occupied territory.

The EU stressed the need for measures to prevent similar incidents and uphold international legal obligations in the West Bank.
