Tehran, Oct 25 (V7N)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has blamed Washington for the collapse of an interim agreement aimed at ending the war involving Iran, the United States and Israel, while urging the parties to return to negotiations and finalise an agreement to prevent renewed conflict.

Pezeshkian made the remarks in a speech broadcast by Iran's Press TV on Saturday, October 24, according to the information provided.

His comments came amid renewed regional tensions following US President Donald Trump's suggestion that Washington could launch another military operation against Iran, which he referred to as “Little Epic Fury.”

Tehran has responded firmly to Trump's remarks and statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that even a limited attack on the country would trigger a stronger response.

Ali Abdollahi, chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, has also warned against the entry of US forces into the Persian Gulf. Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Tehran wanted peace but would respond forcefully to any aggression in defence of the country's sovereignty.

Meanwhile, Iran's judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reportedly held separate meetings with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

The discussions covered broader political issues, including efforts to combat corruption and recover compensation for damage caused by the recent war.

Despite the escalating rhetoric and fears of renewed fighting, Pezeshkian's appeal for the parties to return to an agreement signals Tehran's stated preference for a negotiated settlement.
