Tehran, Oct 25 (V7N)- Russia has denied reports that it plans to evacuate its diplomats and nuclear experts from Iran, saying that personnel working at the Bushehr nuclear power plant will remain in the country and continue their duties as usual.
According to Qatar-based Al Jazeera, the Russian Embassy in Tehran described reports of a planned evacuation as “fake” and said neither embassy staff nor Russian experts at the facility had plans to leave Iran.
The embassy said the reports were completely false and that the activities of Russian personnel were continuing normally.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant is Iran’s only operational nuclear power facility. The site has reportedly been affected by multiple attacks during the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Satellite images released in July also reportedly showed signs of damage at the facility, raising concerns about the safety of the plant and the Russian personnel working there.
Against this backdrop, questions have emerged over the security of Russian experts and Moscow’s diplomatic presence in Iran. However, the Russian Embassy has reiterated that there are currently no plans to evacuate its staff or nuclear specialists.
