East Jerusalem, Nov 07 (V7N)- Israeli authorities have forced two Palestinian families to demolish their homes in the Jabal al-Mukabber neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem, according to Palestinian media reports.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported the incident on Friday (November 6).
According to the report, the two houses were built in 2020 and were home to a total of 18 people from the two families. Following orders from Israeli authorities, the families were compelled to demolish the properties themselves.
The families had previously paid a combined 25,000 Israeli shekels, equivalent to approximately $7,900, to Israeli authorities in an attempt to prevent the demolitions. However, the payment failed to save their homes, and they ultimately had to carry out the demolitions.
Meanwhile, demolitions of Palestinian homes have reportedly increased in recent months in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, leaving more families at risk of losing their homes.
