Taiwan experienced a magnitude 5.5 earthquake on Monday afternoon (April 22), as reported by the UK news agency Reuters. The quake was felt across the country, causing concern among residents.

According to initial reports, the earthquake's epicenter was located in eastern Hualien. However, the US Geological Survey recorded the magnitude slightly lower, at 5.3. The quake originated approximately 8.9 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.

This recent earthquake comes just weeks after Taiwan was rocked by a powerful magnitude 7.4 tremor on the 3rd of this month. That earthquake claimed the lives of at least 17 individuals, highlighting the region's vulnerability to seismic activity.
