A devastating incident struck Mumbai, India, as a massive billboard collapsed, claiming the lives of at least 14 individuals and leaving another 60 injured on Monday (May 13). The tragic event unfolded near a fuel station in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area, according to reports from Reuters.

Authorities attribute the collapse to heavy rain and strong winds, which led to the disintegration of the towering structure measuring 230 feet in length and 164 feet in width. Beneath the fallen billboard were several residential buildings and a petrol station, exacerbating the impact of the accident.

The aftermath of the collapse saw severe damage, with reports indicating that a portion of the petrol station collapsed, resulting in twisted vehicles strewn across the area.

Prompt response efforts were initiated, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde swiftly visiting the site to assess the situation. In light of the tragedy, Shinde ordered a thorough investigation into the root cause of the incident. Additionally, he announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to be provided to the families of the victims, acknowledging the profound loss experienced by the community.
