A helicopter carrying Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has crashed in Zolfa, a region bordering Azerbaijan, on Sunday, May 19. The incident was confirmed by Iran's state media, IRNA. Details regarding President Raisi's condition remain undisclosed.

The president was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the governor of East Azerbaijan, according to reports from the Associated Press. President Raisi and his entourage were returning from the inauguration of a dam in East Azerbaijan when the crash occurred. The fleet included three additional helicopters. Rescue workers, totaling 16, reached the crash site, but their progress has been slowed due to the adverse weather.
