On Saturday, May 25, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that four ships docked at a temporary US port in Gaza were swept away by strong ocean currents. According to Al Jazeera, despite the incident, the temporary port remained undamaged.

In a statement, CENTCOM explained that the four boats broke free from their moorings due to the strong currents and floated to the surrounding area. Two of the ships drifted to the shores of Israel, while the other two were damaged but were subsequently salvaged and anchored near the shore with the assistance of the Israeli Navy.

Despite the disruption, Washington asserted that the temporary port is fully operational and confirmed that no injuries occurred. CENTCOM highlighted that over 569 metric tons of humanitarian aid have been sent to Gaza from the US-built port, emphasizing the continued flow of essential supplies to the region.

The cooperation between the US and Israeli forces in handling the aftermath of this incident underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain stability and support humanitarian operations in Gaza.
