The supreme leader of Iran has called on other Middle Eastern countries to cut political and economic connections with Israel in order to put pressure on the country.

According to the state-run IRNA news agency, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged Muslin states to "cut off the lifeline" of Israel.

He urged nations to stop endorsing a truce in Gaza during a public gathering.

"Sometimes the positions and statements of the officials of the Islamic countries are wrong, because they talk about an issue such as the ceasefire in Gaza, which is beyond their control," he stated.

He also demanded that nations in the Middle East stop endorsing Israel.

The Iranian-allied Houthis in Yemen have attacked ships in the waterways that they claim are either bound for Israeli ports or have ties to Israel in recent months.

Since the crisis began on October 7, other militant groups supported by Iran have attacked Israel, including the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
