BALUCHISTAN, 3 July 2024– In a span of three days, Pakistan has witnessed two significant jailbreaks. Three prisoners escaped from a jail in Duki, Balochistan, on Tuesday, July 2. This incident follows the escape of 19 prisoners from a jail in Azad Kashmir on Sunday. Among the 19 escapees, six were convicts sentenced to death. The Pakistani media outlet Dawn News reported these developments.

The three prisoners who escaped from Duki jail have been identified as Asmatullah, Abdul Kabir, and Mohammad Sadiq. They were involved in crimes including robbery and murder. The jailbreak occurred when the prisoners went to the toilet in the prison premises on Tuesday morning. Despite immediate search operations, the fugitives remain at large.

On Sunday, 19 prisoners escaped from a jail in Azad Kashmir. The escapees included six death row convicts, raising significant concerns about prison security and oversight.

In connection with the Duki jailbreak, a complaint has been filed against the jail warden and two policemen, along with the three escaped prisoners. They have been charged with negligence of duty, highlighting lapses in security protocols within the prison system.

Search operations are underway to recapture the escaped prisoners from both incidents. The authorities are under pressure to bring the escapees to justice and to review and strengthen prison security measures to prevent future incidents.

The back-to-back jailbreaks in Pakistan, resulting in the escape of 22 prisoners, including dangerous criminals and death row convicts, have raised alarms about prison security and management. The incidents in Duki, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir underscore the need for immediate corrective actions to address the evident lapses in the prison system.
