Bengaluru, 05 July 2024 — The head of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Dr. Somnath, has expressed a desire to send India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi into space, describing it as a matter of "extreme pride" for the entire nation. This information was reported by Indian news media Deccan Herald.

"If we can send Prime Minister Narendra Modi to space, it will be a matter of 'extreme pride' for the entire nation," said Dr. Somnath.

However, Prime Minister Modi will have to wait for this ambitious venture, as the successful completion and readiness of India's manned spacecraft, Gaganyaan, are prerequisites.

Dr. Somnath highlighted the importance of the current year for ISRO, stating, "This year is a very important year for ISRO." He emphasized that the schedule for completing the construction of the Gaganyaan spacecraft and conducting three space missions with it has already been fixed. Ensuring the spacecraft's readiness before the scheduled time is crucial for achieving these milestones.

The Gaganyaan mission marks a significant step for India's space exploration endeavors, and successfully sending the Prime Minister to space would symbolize a monumental achievement for the country.
