Kyiv, July 9 – The Russia-Ukraine war reaches its 865th day as Russian forces escalate their attacks, killing at least 41 people, including children, in missile strikes on a children's hospital in Kyiv and other cities. The attacks, which left more than 170 people injured, are reported to be among the deadliest in recent months, according to The Washington Post.

The strikes targeted multiple locations, including a children's hospital in Kyiv, resulting in significant civilian casualties. Ukrainian officials confirmed that all the deceased were civilians. The attack is described as one of the most severe in the recent phase of the conflict, highlighting the intensifying violence as the war drags on.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is currently in Washington to attend the NATO summit, has been briefed on the attacks. The Ukrainian interior ministry reported that Russian forces also targeted the eastern cities of Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro.

In response to the devastating loss of life, the Ukrainian government has declared Tuesday a day of mourning. The declaration serves as a somber acknowledgment of the tragedy and a gesture of sympathy for the victims and their families.

The ongoing conflict continues to inflict severe humanitarian and infrastructural damage on Ukraine, with both sides facing significant casualties and displacement. As the international community watches, calls for de-escalation and peace talks persist amidst the unrelenting violence.
