Kiev, July 31 — Ukraine has received its much-anticipated shipment of F-16 fighter jets to bolster its defense against Russia. The initial consignment of these advanced warplanes arrived in the country on Wednesday, as confirmed by Lithuania's Foreign Minister and an anonymous US official, according to Reuters.

The delivery marks a significant milestone for Ukraine, which has long sought these sophisticated aircraft from its Western allies. Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway have pledged to supply a total of 49 F-16s, with Denmark contributing 19, the Netherlands 24, and Norway 6.

The F-16, manufactured by US firm Lockheed Martin, is equipped with a 20-mm cannon and capable of carrying bombs, rockets, and missiles. This enhancement is expected to strengthen Ukraine's air capabilities significantly in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
