Gaza City, August 11 – In the deadliest recent assault on the besieged Gaza Strip, Israel has launched a devastating attack on a school in northern Gaza, killing hundreds of civilians, including women and children. The attack occurred early Saturday morning at Al-Tabin School in the Daraz area of Gaza City, where refugee families had taken shelter.

According to reports from Qatar-based media Al Jazeera, the Gaza Ministry of Health confirmed that three bombs struck the school, causing severe destruction and leaving many bodies unidentifiable. The horrifying images and videos circulating in international media show grief-stricken relatives mourning over the shattered remains of their loved ones.

Ismail al-Thawabta, head of Gaza's official media office, stated that the bombs used in the attack weighed 2,000 pounds each. Despite knowing the presence of displaced civilians inside the school, Israeli forces proceeded with the airstrike, which they claimed targeted Hamas members sheltering in the facility.

Fares Afana, Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services in Northern Gaza, emphasized that the victims of this attack were unarmed civilians, including children and the elderly. Meanwhile, various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan, and Qatar, have condemned the assault, with Jordan describing it as a clear violation of international law and human values.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Israel of committing this atrocity with the support of Western nations, aiming to divert attention from internal issues and incompetence within the Tel Aviv government.

This incident is part of an ongoing conflict that escalated after the Hamas government of Gaza launched a significant military operation against Israel on October 7 of the previous year. Since then, over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than a million have been injured, most of them civilians.

The Gaza conflict continues to draw international condemnation and support, with nations like Iran, China, Russia, Bangladesh, and Norway opposing Israel's actions, while countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany have expressed their support for Israel.
