Islamabad, August 15 – Pakistan has announced a new visa policy allowing citizens from 126 countries, including Bangladesh, to obtain a free 90-day visa for both tourism and business purposes. The country's Information Minister, Ataullah Tarar, unveiled the new policy at a press conference on Wednesday, marking a significant move to boost international tourism and business travel.
Under this policy, visitors from the eligible countries can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) online, which will be processed within 24 hours. The application involves answering 30 simple questions, making the process swift and user-friendly. Importantly, the e-visa fees have been completely abolished for these visitors.
The countries covered by this new policy include major nations such as Germany, Italy, South Africa, Mexico, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Nepal, Bangladesh, and many others. Citizens from these countries will be granted an on-arrival visa upon entering Pakistan by simply presenting their passport.
This initiative, effective from August 14, is seen as part of Pakistan's broader strategy to attract more tourists and investors, thereby fostering international relations and economic growth. The decision was foreshadowed by the Pakistan Visa Authority in July, and it has now been implemented, offering greater convenience and access to travelers from around the world.
