Lahore, Sep 21 (V7N)-  After a day filled with tension and uncertainty, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was finally granted permission to hold a rally in Lahore. The approval came on Saturday after the intervention of the Lahore High Court, though PTI had to shift its venue from the historic Minar-e-Pakistan to Khan's Link Road. This development was reported by The Dawn.

Earlier in the day, opposition leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhacha, along with PTI members of the Punjab Assembly, was blocked by police from entering the Minar-e-Pakistan site, leading to a dramatic series of events. The tension escalated when a lawyer appealed to the Lahore High Court to prevent PTI from holding the rally, but the application was rejected.

Subsequently, PTI sought the High Court's intervention to secure permission for their rally. PTI leader Alia Hamza and other party members approached the court, requesting that the authorities allow the event to proceed. The court then directed the Deputy Commissioner to make a decision based on the law.

Despite the legal victory, PTI has alleged that massive arrests of its supporters began immediately after the permission was granted, accusing the authorities of trying to disrupt the rally by preventing supporters from attending.

The PTI rally is expected to draw significant attention as the party continues its efforts to mobilise support amid the political turmoil in Pakistan.
