Khulna June 23: At suitable age parents, elder brother tried to give marriage. But as an athlete participating in various regional, sectional, national and international swimming competitions one after the other, the age of marriage passed. No longer sitting on the wedding steps. Middle-aged Tahera Parveen, Bangladesh's only national-level swimmer who won 15 gold medals in swimming, has no husband, family, money, wealth, savings, own shelter, nothing. There are only 33 medals. Among them, 15 gold medals in swimming, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals in hurdles.

As a national level swimmer, Gaurav Tahera Parveen has earned over half a hundred certificates, felicitations from the Bangabhavan and medals from the President for her individual performance. However, none of these things are of use to him during this difficult crisis of life. In the middle of the struggle of life, he had to face the harsh reality. He has been living an inhuman life for the past one month after breaking his leg in an accident. Neither parent is alive. The elder brother Mullah Jahangir is somehow alive at the mercy of Kabir BabulAfter not getting proper treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital and Khulna Sadar Hospital, he was admitted to a private hospital named Khulna Central Hospital and Diagnostic located on Sher-e Bangla Road in the city three days ago due to the mercy of a relative. He is under treatment under the supervision of the doctor Gautam Mukherjee of that hospital.

On Saturday (June 22) afternoon, he described his miserable life to this reporter in cabin 403 on the fourth floor of the hospital. Tahera Parveen said, swimming and hurdles were my events as an athlete. These two events gave me 33 medals including 15 golds. These two events are responsible for my fate today. . Unable to get married due to one event after another in swimming, past marriageable age. Parents want to get married, I told them there is an upcoming event. I couldn't get married for one event after another. She said in a tearful voice, I have no parents, husband, family, sons or daughters.

I am helpless, lying in a hospital bed and living an inhuman life. I have no one to see. I am still alive thanks to the mercy of my elder brother. He also has a wife and children. How long will he see me? So far I have not received any help. None of the matches I played for, including BJSM, gave any support.

I just played. I could not even get married due to going into the sports world. My guardian tried hard to get married. I told them to finish playing at the national level. But the game is not over. Played one after the other. I also could not sit on the wedding table. Just told them the event ahead. This event is the day of my life. As an athlete of BJMC, I have participated in regional divisional national and international level swimming. Got gold medal. They have a reputation. At the end of the game I was handed only 5/6 hundred rupees.

They did not provide any employment or financial support. Tahera Parveen said, while studying in the 4th grade at Durjanimhal Government Primary School in Rupsa Upazila, I took part in the regional swimming competition held in Rajshahi as a player of BJMC with my cousin footballer Shaukat and won the gold medal. This was the first gold medalist in life. Courage, morale and enthusiasm all increase. Since then I became a regular player of BJMC. I used to practice regularly in Khalishpur Crescent Jute Mill field. My swimming coach was Nimai Da and the athletics coach was Mustafizur Rahman of BJMC. The swimming coach used to practice swimming for 4/5 hours every day in various ponds including PTI's pond, swimming pool. Even in winter I had to practice in the cold water of the pond regularly

After that I got gold medal in national level swimming competition held in Dhaka. Got gold medal and bronze medal in hurdles in BJMC swimming competition held at Chittagong. In the first Bangladesh Olympic Games held in Dhaka, he won a gold medal in swimming and a silver medal in hurdles. We received a medal from the then president for winning the gold medal in swimming.

Gold medal in the swimming competition held at Dhaka Police Line, gold medal in the swimming competition held at Khulna Stadium at the divisional level, gold medal in the swimming competition held at Khalishpur Crescent Jut Mill.Besides, in the international swimming competition held in India, as a player of BJMC, I participated in the swimming competition and won the second place and got the silver medal. Similarly, I participated in the international swimming competition held in Nepal and won the bronze medal.

I became helpless after my father died in 2001. Since then, I have been alive thanks to the mercy of my elder brother. On the 17th of May, on the way home from Khulna to Durjanimhal in Ropsar, I had an accident with a truck at Bachir intersection of Terokhada road. Three bones of the left leg were broken. After not getting proper treatment in Khulna Medical College and Sadar Hospital, I was admitted to Khulna Central Hospital for the last three days due to the mercy of a relative. I am living a life of paralysis.

My earnest request to the honorable Prime Minister is that if he would have helped me a little, I would have survived a little.

Tahera Parveen's elder brother Mollah Jahangir Kabir Babul said, "My younger sister Tahera has been playing sports all her life. We could never get him married despite our efforts. When talking about marriage, he used to say one event after another, I am going to India, I am going to Nepal, after all this he did not get married. He is in the hospital due to an accident. There is no one to watch. I have little income. There is a family, there are sons and daughters. Where can I get the cost of my sister's treatment? Still trying. He said, my sister has contributed a lot in the world of sports. He has taken the sports world of Bangladesh a long way. An urgent request to the Prime Minister to be kind to my sister.

Tahera Parveen, the only swimmer at the national level, was born and brought up in Durjanimhal village of Aizgati union in Rupsa upazila of Khulna. Father's name is Mulla Ghulam Rasool. Tahera Parveen is the youngest among 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Passed SSC from Terokhad Girls School in 1985.
