Oct 2, V7N - New England Revolution midfielder Dylan Borrero has been handed an additional one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine by Major League Soccer (MLS) following his red card incident on Sept. 21 during a 4-0 loss to Charlotte FC. Borrero, who came on as a substitute in the 56th minute, was shown a yellow card for a sliding challenge just 14 minutes later. After protesting the decision, he received a second yellow, leading to his automatic ejection.
Borrero served the standard one-game suspension during New England's win over Nashville SC on Saturday, but MLS deemed his behavior warranted further punishment. As a result, Borrero will also miss the Revolution's upcoming match against the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday.
Borrero, a 22-year-old Colombian, has contributed three assists in 14 appearances (eight starts) this season but has not scored any goals. Over his three seasons with New England, he has five goals and six assists in 34 matches (22 starts). The Revolution, currently six points out of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, have four matches remaining in their push for the postseason.
