Moulvibazar, Mar 23 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, said the party did not consider the last election fair but accepted the results to maintain national stability and prevent the country from stagnating.
He made the remarks while exchanging greetings with villagers, party leaders, and activists in the Bhatera area of Kulaura Upazila on Monday afternoon.
Commenting on the current political situation and the activities of the main opposition party, BNP, Dr. Rahman cautioned, “If you do not return to the right path, remember that the people of the whole country are 'July fighters.' This awakened public will not forgive you. We do not want your fate to be like the fascists of the past.”
He added that citizens who carry the spirit of the July Revolution are now more aware than ever and will not tolerate any deviation from democratic principles.
Dr. Rahman’s visit to his home area sparked significant enthusiasm among local leaders and activists. Hundreds gathered at the Muminchhara Tea Garden area of Bhatera Union to welcome him, forming a large procession to accompany him home.
Later, he exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life at his residence. Present at the event were Jamaat-e-Islami District Branch President Engineer Shahed Ali, General Secretary Yamir Ali, and numerous leaders and activists from the district and upazila levels.
The visit highlighted the party’s continued engagement with grassroots supporters ahead of ongoing political developments in the country.
