Oct 13 V7N- Morocco and Guinea secured dominant wins in the final third-round qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Saturday. Morocco hammered the Central African Republic 5-0, with Azzedine Ounahi scoring twice, and goals from Abde Ezzalzouli, Achraf Hakimi, and Soufiane Rahimi. Morocco, who automatically qualify for the AFCON as hosts, are using the qualifiers as competitive practice. The victory equals the biggest margin in this stage, matching South Africa's 5-0 win over Congo Brazzaville.

Guinea triumphed 4-1 over Ethiopia, led by a hat-trick from Borussia Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy, who became the joint leading scorer in 2025 qualifying. Seydouba Cisse added a goal early in the second half, while Kenean Markneh scored Ethiopia's only goal.

The results leave Morocco atop Group B with nine points, while Gabon, Central African Republic, and Lesotho fight for the remaining qualification spot. In Group H, DR Congo leads with nine points, followed by Tanzania with four and Guinea with three, setting up a crucial November clash between Tanzania and Guinea to determine who will join DR Congo in Morocco. 

AFCON qualifying continues with matches on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
