A brilliant all-round display by Andre Russell helped Comilla Victorians end Rangpur Riders’ eight-match winning streak in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with a six-wicket win at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.
Russell smashed 43 not out off only 12 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes, and also took 3-20 with the ball, as Comilla chased down Rangpur’s 150 all out in 17.3 overs.

Musfik Hasan also bowled well for Comilla, taking 3-18, as Rangpur’s batting faltered after being put into bat. James Neesham was the lone bright spot for Rangpur, scoring an unbeaten 69 off 42 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Shakib Al Hasan added 24 runs, but the rest of the top order failed to fire.

Comilla’s chase was steady, thanks to captain Liton Das’ 43 and Mahidul Islam Ankan’s 39. Shakib Al Hasan tried to keep Rangpur in the game with 3-20, but Russell’s fireworks sealed the deal for Comilla.
The win ensured Comilla’s second spot in the league table with 16 points from 11 matches, while Rangpur remained on top with 18 points from 12 matches. The two teams will face each other again in Qualifier 1.
It was a thrilling match that showcased Russell’s skills and set up a mouth-watering clash between Comilla Victorians and Rangpur Riders in the next round.
