Dhaka, Jan 18, (V7N) - Nic Pothas, the Fielding Coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team, has resigned from his position, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Friday. Pothas, 49, decided to leave his role due to family reasons, even though he had one year left on his contract with the BCB.
Pothas initially joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in April 2023 as an Assistant Coach before transitioning to the role of Fielding Coach. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the team’s fielding strategy and overall performance.
“We thank Nic for his dedication and valuable contributions to Bangladesh cricket. His efforts and coaching expertise have been greatly appreciated,” said Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, the CEO of BCB. “We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
Before joining Bangladesh, Pothas had coaching stints with the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
The BCB has not yet announced a replacement for Pothas. Bangladesh’s next major international assignment is the ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in the USA and Pakistan next month.
