Sydney, March 13 (V7N) – Former Australian leg-spinner Stuart MacGill has been found guilty of supplying cocaine, according to the country's national broadcaster ABC. The verdict comes after an investigation into a drug-related incident that took place in 2021.

Authorities revealed that MacGill had introduced an associate to his personal cocaine dealer. The police alleged that the two were involved in a drug deal worth 200,000 US dollars. While MacGill was not directly linked to the financial transaction, he was found guilty of knowingly participating in the supply of prohibited drugs.

Despite the conviction, the 54-year-old former cricketer was acquitted of the more serious charge of supplying drugs on a commercial scale.

MacGill, who represented Australia in 44 Test matches between 1998 and 2008, was widely regarded as a talented leg-spinner. However, his international career was largely overshadowed by the dominance of legendary spinner Shane Warne, limiting his opportunities at the highest level.

The legal consequences of this verdict remain to be seen, but the case has drawn significant attention, marking a dramatic turn in the post-cricket life of the former Test star.
