The traditional DC's Shaheb's wrestling Game (DC Shaheber Boli khela) and Baishakhi Mela have begun in Cox's Bazar for two days. On Friday (May 10), District Administrator Mohammad Shahin Imran inaugurated the game and fair at the historic Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin Stadium by flying a balloon. This is the 69th edition of this game. The ball game will conclude on Saturday (May 11) afternoon with prize distribution.

Mohammad Jasim Uddin, the General Secretary of the District Sports Association, informed Voice7News that this time, nearly 400 participants have registered from various parts of the country for the ball game. One of the attractions of this year's ball game is the participation of Balli Bagha Sharif, the champion of Chittagong's Jubbair Ball Game. He is from Comilla. Besides, past champions like Nur Mohammad Balli from Ukhiya, Shamsu Balli, and Jiban Balli are also participating.

Helal Uddin Kabir, the Director of theDC's Shaheb DC's Shaheb's Wrestling GameGame (DC Shaheber Boli khela) and Baishakhi Mela Celebration Committee, said that there will be fierce competition in the ball game, where Balli Bagha Sharif from Comilla, Shahjalal, Shamsu, and Ukhiya's Nur Mohammad Balli will compete. More than 300 participants will compete in three categories for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd medals. This time, the rewards for the ball players have also been increased. In the ball game this time, the champion of the first medal will receive Tk 25,000, and the runner-up will receive Tk 15,000. In the 2nd medal, the champion will receive Tk 12,000, the runner-up will receive Tk 8,000, and in the 3rd medal, the champion will receive Tk 10,000 and the runner-up will receive Tk 7,000.

Director Helal Uddin Kabir said that Cox's Bazar district has been adorned with banners and festoons for the wrestling Game, along with the preparation of the Wrestling Game field and the appointment of Wrestling Game judges. It is hoped that this time the audience will enjoy the wrestling game very much. Along with the ball game, the Baishakhi Mela has also started. The fair features a variety of traditional products, including traditional boats, handicrafts, cottage industries, weaving, clothing, clay crafts, and a wide range of local products.

In addition, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional District Administrator Mr. Jahid Iqbal, Additional District Administrator Bibhishan Kanti Das, Additional District Magistrate Mr. Yamin Hossain, and the executive magistrate of the district administration, Helal Uddin Kabir, the secretary of the Ball Game sub-committee.

In context, the DC Shaheb Wrestling Games (DC Shaheber Boli khela) is a unique part of Cox's Bazar's history and tradition. In 1956, when Cox's Bazar was a subdivision, the development of this game began under the name 'SDO Shaheb's Wrestling Game'. After the district was established in Cox's Bazar in 1984, the name of 'SDO Shahebs Wrestling Game' was changed to 'DC Shaheb Wrestling Game'.
