International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman from Bangladesh began the Sharjah Challenger chess tournament on a positive note by securing a victory against Turkmenistan's Woman FIDE Master, Ovezdurdyyeva Jemal, in the first round. The tournament commenced on Tuesday evening in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
A total of 98 players from 38 countries are competing in the event, which includes six Grandmasters, two Women Grandmasters, twenty-one International Masters, and four Women International Masters, as stated in a press release.
