Ryu Hae-ran of South Korea made a remarkable comeback to win the LPGA's FM Championship at TPC Boston on Sunday, defeating compatriot Ko Jin-young in a playoff. This victory marks Ryu's second triumph on the LPGA Tour.

Ryu began the tournament with an impressive 10-under-par 62 on Friday but faced a setback in the third round, shooting a six-over 78 that left her four shots behind Ko, who is a seasoned 15-time LPGA winner. Despite this, Ryu maintained her focus and delivered an outstanding performance on Sunday, birdying the first four holes and finishing with a 64, bringing her total to 15-under-par.Ryu's only bogey came on the par-three 16th, which tied her with Ko, leading to a tense finish as they awaited Ko's final two holes.

Ko started the day with a two-shot lead, extending it with an eagle on the par-five second and another on the par-four fourth. However, a bogey on the 10th and only one additional birdie on the 14th put her in a precarious position. After a two-hour rain delay, Ko missed a crucial nine-foot putt on the final green that could have secured her victory. In the playoff on the par-five 18th, Ko missed a 30-foot putt for par, while Ryu confidently sank a 12-foot birdie putt, clinching the championship.

"This second win was so hard for me because this year I got many chances before, but I missed out a couple of times," Ryu reflected after her victory. "I was so nervous at the playoff, but maybe Ko Jin-young was the same."

China's Liu Ruixin finished just one shot behind, closing at 14-under after an impressive eight-under 64, which included birdies on each of her first seven holes. Liu's round marked her second consecutive 64, the lowest of her career.American Allisen Corpuz and Thailand's Atthaya Thitikul finished further back at 13-under, both carding rounds of 67.Ryu's victory highlights her resilience and determination, making her a player to watch on the LPGA Tour moving forward.
