DHAKA, Sep 08 (V7N) - Former directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have pledged their support to current president Faruque Ahmed as the board undergoes significant changes following the removal of the former autocratic leader, Sheikh Hasina.

The ex-board members, who held senior positions from 2001 to 2005, visited BCB President Faruque Ahmed at his office in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. The delegation was led by former vice-president Shah Nurul Kabir Shaheen and included Kazi Mohiuddin Bulbul, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Redwan Fuad, Shafiqul Islam, Shahiduzzaman Shaheed, Qayyum Chowdhury, Md. Zahid Hossain, and Asaduzzaman, among others.

Nurul Kabir Shaheen expressed their commitment, stating, “As former cricket players and organizers with a deep passion for the sport, we cannot disengage from cricket matters. We have assured the BCB president of our full support and cooperation if needed.”

Echoing this sentiment, former director Mohiuddin Bulbul added, “Although we were compelled to step down from the board, our organization, Krira Unnoyon Parishad, continues to support the BCB. We are dedicated to contributing to the improvement of cricket.”

However, former director Qayyum Chowdhury raised concerns about corruption within the board over the past 17 years.

“There has been substantial corruption in the cricket board during this period,” Chowdhury stated. “We were elected officials but were forced to resign, and subsequent leadership has been involved in extensive corruption. We have requested the current president to address these issues publicly and call for a thorough investigation.”
