Sept 19, V7N- Britain secured a spot in the Louis Vuitton Cup final in Barcelona by clinching a 5-2 semi-final victory over Switzerland in the America's Cup challenger series. Under the leadership of skipper Ben Ainslie, the British team demonstrated resilience, overcoming a challenging day on the water.

Despite initially leading the semi-final series 4-0, the British faced a tough challenge from the Swiss crew, who managed to win the first race of the day, narrowing the series score to 4-2. However, Britain regained control in the second race, ultimately sealing their place in the final.

In the other semi-final, the United States kept their chances alive with a crucial win over Italy, who experienced a dramatic equipment failure during their second race. Jimmy Spithill, co-helm of the Italian team, reported damage to a key component of their AC75 foiling monohull, which led to a significant loss of control.
As it stands, the United States has three wins in the semi-final series, while Italy leads with four. The upcoming races will determine who will face Britain in the final at the end of the month.

The winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup will earn the right to challenge the defending champions, New Zealand, for the prestigious Auld Mug, the oldest international sporting trophy dating back to 1851. Ainslie expressed relief and satisfaction after the semi-final victory, acknowledging the tough conditions and the quality of the Swiss team. The final promises to be an exciting showdown as Britain aims for their first America's Cup victory.
