Dhaka, Mar 09 (V7N) –Several Bangladeshi organizations have partnered with Starlink to assist in setting up a ground earth station in Bangladesh.
The information was shared on Saturday, through a statement from the CA Press Wing.
A team from a US-based telecommunications service provider is currently visiting Bangladesh. During this visit, Bangladeshi companies signed agreements with Starlink, the statement said.
However, details such as when, where, and how the agreements were made, as well as the names of the Bangladeshi companies involved, have not been disclosed.
According to the press wing of the chief adviser, the agreements include aspects such as space allocation, construction support, and ongoing infrastructure maintenance.
As a result of this visit by the Starlink team, the Bangladeshi companies have gained insight into several locations of interest.
In some areas, local companies are providing assistance using their own properties, while in other areas, Starlink is considering sites within high-tech parks.
Special assistant to the chief adviser, Faiz Taiyeb, said: "Discussions are ongoing regarding the details of space and implementation."
Taiyeb expressed hope that Starlink will provide reliable and high-speed internet for both urban and remote areas of Bangladesh, especially in the northern regions or areas free from the challenges posed by natural disasters. This will ensure uninterrupted and high-quality service.
Given the limited coverage of telecom-grade fiber networks in Bangladesh and the ongoing load-shedding issues in remote areas, Starlink is expected to accelerate the daily operations of entrepreneurs, freelancers, NGOs, and SMEs, as well as digital economic initiatives, he believes.
Faiz Taiyeb added: "We will strive to implement a 'sensible model' with Starlink within the next 90 days."
