Dhaka, July 28 — After a 10-day shutdown, mobile internet services are finally operational again across Bangladesh. State Minister for Telecom and Information Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak, announced that 4G internet services would be restored from 3 pm today.

The decision came following a meeting with the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (Amtob) on Sunday morning. Minister Palak stated, "We have decided that 4G connectivity of the mobile network will be restored from 3 pm."

To compensate for the disruption, Minister Palak also announced that mobile internet customers would receive a 5GB bonus for three days once the connection is restored. This bonus will be available to customers of all operators.

The mobile internet shutdown began on the night of July 17 amid the violence surrounding the quota reform movement. Broadband internet was subsequently shut down on the night of July 18. For over 10 days, customers of five operator companies across the country were unable to use mobile data services.

Broadband internet service was restored on an experimental basis on the night of July 23, with priority given to diplomatic quarters, banks and financial institutions, power, freelancing and technology sectors, and export-oriented industries. Internet services in residential areas resumed from the night of July 24, though Facebook and TikTok servers remain offline for now.
