Green TV has had its satellite broadcast services temporarily suspended by Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL).

The suspension came on Monday in response to repeated failures by the company to settle outstanding dues and for consistently violating the terms outlined in multiple payment notices, according to BSCL sources.

BSCL said Green TV’s broadcast services would only be restored upon full payment of all overdue amounts within the specified time frame.

Should Green TV fail to comply, BSCL warned that it would cancel the existing contract and initiate legal measures to recover the dues.

This is not the first time Green TV has faced such action.

The network's services had been suspended on four previous occasions, each time being reinstated after promises to clear outstanding bills.

However, the latest developments suggest a more stringent approach from BSCL.

In addition to its satellite broadcast services, Green TV also has an agreement with BSCL for television rating point (TRP) services.

However, due to the non-payment of bills as stipulated in their contract, TRP services have been suspended since May.

The process to officially cancel this contract is currently underway.

BSCL is reportedly dealing with similar issues from several other client organizations and is actively working to recover outstanding payments.

If these clients did not make satisfactory progress in settling their dues, BSCL might consider taking similar actions against them as well, the government agency warned.
