Russian forces have taken control of the eastern Ukrainian town of Avdivka. As a result, Ukrainian troops are fleeing from that region. In such a situation, the Zelensky administration announced the withdrawal of troops from Avdivka.  

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the country's military chief Oleksandr Sirsky confirmed the troop withdrawal. BBC news.   

President Zelensky said that this decision was taken to save the lives of the soldiers.

Zelensky blamed the West for the fall of Avdivka, calling it one of Russia's greatest victories.

He said Ukraine failed there because the West cut arms. 

Meanwhile, in a post on social media, Sirski said that besides avoiding encirclement, the decision to withdraw the army was taken to protect the lives and health of the soldiers.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sirsky said that he had visited Avdivka and other frontline combat positions. He described the situation there as very difficult.

Russian troops took "full control" of the city on Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday, and President Vladimir Putin hailed it as a "significant victory".
