Malaysia, Nov 30 (V7N) — Severe flooding caused by heavy rains has devastated nine states in Malaysia, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents. According to a report by the Associated Press, three people have died in the disaster so far.

The National Disaster Command Center reported on Friday that 94,778 people from 28,000 families have been relocated to 527 temporary shelters across the affected states.

Kelantan, a northeastern state bordering Thailand, has been the worst hit, with 63,761 residents evacuated to safer locations. The neighboring state of Terengganu has also been severely affected, with 22,511 people moved to emergency shelters.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has taken proactive steps to address the crisis, banning all Cabinet ministers from taking vacations and instructing them to provide direct assistance to flood-affected areas.

Efforts are underway to provide relief to those displaced, with authorities closely monitoring the situation as heavy rains continue to pose a threat.
