Islamabad, Jan 02 (V7N) — Pakistan's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar referred to Bangladesh as their "lost brother" and expressed Pakistan's readiness to extend all kinds of cooperation to the nation. His remarks came during a press conference held in Islamabad on Thursday.
Dar highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries, calling Bangladesh an "important partner" and announcing plans for an official visit to Dhaka. He also condemned the ongoing genocide in Gaza and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to raising the Kashmir issue on international platforms.
The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the steps Pakistan has taken to improve relations with Bangladesh following the political changes in Dhaka after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, 2024. In a historic move symbolising this effort, a Pakistani cargo ship recently docked directly at Chittagong Port, marking the first such occurrence since 1971.
Dar emphasized that Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry is working actively to foster diplomatic relationships and assured continued efforts to strengthen regional partnerships.
This development is being seen as a significant gesture toward reconciliation and improving bilateral relations between the two nations after decades of strained ties.
