Dhaka, Jan 03 (V7N)— Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is set to visit Bangladesh next month on a state invitation, marking a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations. This will be the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to Bangladesh since 2012.

The Pakistani media outlet Express Tribune reported on Friday that the visit underscores the improving relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, particularly following the change in Bangladesh's government last year. The ouster of a pro-India administration in August 2024, amid widespread student protests, has paved the way for enhanced diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

During a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Ishaq Dar referred to Bangladesh as a "lost brother," reflecting Pakistan's intent to rebuild historical ties.

This upcoming visit is seen as groundbreaking, with expectations of discussions on trade, cultural exchanges, and regional cooperation. It marks a notable shift in bilateral relations, setting the stage for renewed collaboration between the two South Asian nations.
