Washington, Feb 10, (V7N) - In a significant move, former U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearances of former President Joe Biden, ex-Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. This decision effectively bars them from accessing classified government information and intelligence reports going forward.

The White House confirmed the action on Saturday. Under normal circumstances, individuals holding security clearances, even after leaving office, retain limited access to sensitive materials. They are typically entitled to receive daily intelligence briefings, which allow former officials to advise the current president on national security and foreign policy matters. However, this revocation means that Biden, Blinken, and Sullivan will no longer be eligible for these briefings.

It is also noteworthy that in 2021, President Biden had revoked Trump’s security clearance when he took office, citing concerns over access to sensitive information.

In the U.S., it is customary for former presidents to receive regular intelligence briefings to assist the sitting president. However, revoking security clearances is within the authority of the sitting president. With Biden's clearance now revoked, it marks a significant shift in the post-office security privileges that former high-ranking officials can access.
