Several top-ranking officers of the Israeli military have reportedly resigned amid disagreements with the government regarding the handling of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the subsequent strategy for post-war efforts.

According to reports from Israeli media outlets, a number of high-ranking officials from the team of Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari, as well as General Richard Hesit, responsible for the army's foreign media relations, have tendered their resignations over concerns related to the Gaza conflict.

Among those who have stepped down is Moran Katz, the deputy to Daniel Hagari, along with several other senior officials, as reported by Israeli media sources.

In recent months, Israeli media has highlighted significant disagreements between the government and the military regarding both the conduct of the conflict and the subsequent plans for Gaza's post-war recovery. The military has expressed dissatisfaction with the government's proposed strategies, particularly concerning the future of Gaza following the cessation of hostilities.

The conflict escalated on October 7 when the Palestinian armed group Hamas launched attacks on various illegal settlements within Israeli territory. In response, the Israeli military initiated a large-scale offensive against Gaza. The ongoing violence has resulted in a significant loss of life, with more than 30,000 Palestinians killed and over 70,000 injured in Israeli attacks.

As a result of the conflict, approximately 85% of Gaza's population has been displaced, and residents are facing severe shortages of essential supplies, including food.

Moreover, Israel has faced accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, with an interim ruling issued in January urging Tel Aviv to halt actions that could be construed as genocidal and take measures to ensure humanitarian assistance reaches civilians in Gaza.
