As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Qatar has unveiled a significant initiative to ease the financial burden on its citizens by reducing the prices of more than 900 essential products. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Qatar announced the special discounts, which came into effect on March 4 and will remain in place throughout the entire month of Ramadan, as reported by Qatari media outlet 'The Peninsula'.

The discounted products encompass a wide range of essentials, including dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese, cooking staples such as cooking oil and ghee, as well as poultry, bread, canned foods, pasta, and beverages like juice and bottled water. Additionally, household items like tissue paper, cleaning materials, and even rose water are among the items included in the price reduction initiative.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the rationale behind the initiative was attributed to the rising costs of food and consumer goods. The aim is to ensure accessibility and affordability of essential items during the sacred month of Ramadan, thereby facilitating the observance of religious practices without undue financial strain on the population.

This initiative builds upon previous efforts by the Qatari government to provide relief to its citizens during Ramadan. In 2021, around 650 products witnessed price reductions, followed by an increase to 800 discounted products in 2022. This year, Qatar has once again expanded the scope of its initiative, extending discounts to more than 900 products, underscoring its commitment to supporting its citizens during this auspicious period.
