Washington, May 9 (V7N) — The U.S. Department of State has urged India and Pakistan to de-escalate ongoing tensions and seek a peaceful resolution through constructive dialogue. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce addressed the matter during a regular press briefing on Thursday.
“We are calling on both India and Pakistan to engage in meaningful discussions and work towards a rational and responsible resolution,” Bruce said in response to a journalist’s question regarding the current state of affairs between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Emphasizing the importance of regional stability, Bruce reiterated the United States' position that open channels of communication are essential in preventing further escalation. “We encourage both nations to find a diplomatic path forward and act in a manner that contributes to long-term peace and security in South Asia,” she added.
The call for restraint comes amid rising military and political tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi, prompting concerns among international observers. The United States continues to monitor developments closely and stands ready to support efforts that promote dialogue and conflict resolution.
