Tampa, Aug 11 (V7N) – Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has issued stark warnings to India during his second visit to the United States in just two months, raising tensions in the region with open references to potential nuclear conflict.

Speaking at an event in Tampa, Florida, Munir warned India that if it proceeds with plans to construct a dam on the Indus River, Pakistan would respond by targeting the site with missiles. He further stated that if Pakistan’s existence were ever threatened, the country would not hesitate to “destroy half of the world” before being destroyed itself.

“We are a nuclear-powered country. If we think we are sinking, we will take half the world down with us,” Munir declared, in what is being widely interpreted as a nuclear threat.

The remarks come against the backdrop of escalating hostilities. In May this year, a four-day conflict erupted between India and Pakistan, following an April attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 people. Citing the attack, India revoked the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, warning that Pakistan would no longer receive its share of the river’s water.

Analysts say Munir’s comments risk deepening tensions in an already volatile South Asian security landscape.
