The escalating violence between armed groups in Haiti claimed the lives of 10 more individuals, whose bullet-riddled bodies were discovered near the capital, Port-au-Prince, on Monday (March 18).

According to a witness from Reuters news agency, the bodies were found strewn along the road in the upscale area of Passionville, with some showing signs of gunshot wounds. The bodies were later removed by ambulance, although authorities have yet to disclose the exact circumstances of their deaths or the identities of the involved groups.

It is suspected that the casualties resulted from a gun battle between rival factions, underscoring the growing instability and sectarian violence gripping Haiti. The conflict has particularly intensified in the capital and its surrounding areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the country.

Amid the ongoing political deadlock and surging violence, various countries, including the United States, are facilitating the repatriation of their citizens from Haiti. The neighboring Dominican Republic has heightened surveillance along the border as a precautionary measure.

The situation in Haiti further deteriorated following the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, prompted by the surge in violence. With Henry's departure, the capital witnessed a spike in unrest, highlighting the challenges facing the nation in restoring stability and security.
