Kuala Lumpur, Jan 04 (V7N)- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has strongly condemned the US military operation in Venezuela, describing it as a clear violation of international law.

In a statement posted on social media, Anwar Ibrahim criticized the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife during a covert US military operation, calling it an unlawful use of force against a sovereign nation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Maduro and his wife must be released immediately and warned that forcibly removing a ruling head of state through external intervention would set a dangerous precedent, potentially undermining the balance of power and restraint among states.

He further stated that the Venezuelan people have the right to determine their own political future, and any military or political intervention by another country violates that fundamental principle.

The remarks come amid escalating international concern over the US-led operation in Venezuela, which has sparked widespread condemnation from regional and global leaders.
