Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed First Vice President Mohammad Mukhbar as interim president, following the tragic death of President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. This information was reported by Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based news agency, on Monday, May 20.

Born on September 1, 1955, in a town in Khuzestan province, Mohammad Mukhbar is a seasoned politician and a close ally of Ayatollah Khamenei. Mukhbar has held various significant positions within the Iranian government, reflecting his deep-rooted connection with the country's leadership. 

Mukhbar has served as the first vice president since 2021, a role he assumed after Ibrahim Raisi's victory in the presidential election.Since 2007, Mukhbar has been the head of this influential organization, which plays a crucial role in executing the directives of Iran's Supreme Leader.
